Case Study Agile Transformation
Project Summary
Implemented Agile methodologies across the UX team, enhancing collaboration and delivery speed.
Key Highlights
- Led the UX team through a major organizational shift to Agile methodology during a company-wide product transformation
- Hired and onboarded 3 designers, 3 front-end developers, and a UX researcher in a matter of months to meet new demands
- Took on an Agile coaching role to guide design and product teams through new workflows and team structures
- Positioned the UX team to support complex internal tools they hadn't worked on before, ensuring seamless handoffs and collaboration
- Guided my team through major organizational changes and turnover, keeping morale and productivity high during uncertain times
- Promoted a senior designer into a leadership role and established new collaboration tools (like Miro) to scale team effectiveness
Process
As the company prepared for a west coast distribution center, software development underwent massive restructuring. I was tasked with aligning the UX team to support unfamiliar internal tools while helping lead the shift to Agile methodology. The restructuring reshaped teams across departments by redefining roles, dissolving silos, and disrupting familiar processes. I worked hard to maintain stability and structure for my team while introducing new tools like Miro to help us collaborate more effectively in the midst of chaos.
Results
Although the distribution center expansion didn't move forward, the shift to Agile fundamentally changed how we build and deliver software. Our team became more collaborative, user-focused, and data-informed. We built stronger relationships with product and engineering, and the UX team emerged with new capabilities, new leadership, and a clearer sense of purpose. Our efforts created a repeatable approach to internal app design and established the UX team as a strategic partner across the business.
